Through the Aebersold Project, Synergy is bringing visiting artist/educators to Des Moines to teach and perform Jazz, America's true art form. Teaming with local musicians and educators, this initiative will present a series of workshops and concerts giving students the kind of understanding that only face-to-face exposure can achieve. Through this dynamic hands-on experience, students learn not only the "nuts and bolts" of the art form, but the dedication, joy, and personal satisfaction of developing the creative mind.
The Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshop
Synergy will be sponsoring a group of students attending the workshop in Louisville, Kentucky during the week of July 5-11. The workshop will include classes in Jazz theory, musicianship, combo rehearsals, and jam sessions fooled by a faculty concert each evening. This workshop has changed many lives, not only musically but through self-discovery of the motivation, ability, and responsibility essential to success.
Synergy will be offering financial aid up to and including full scholarships based on student interest, recommendation, and financial need. Applications are available through your school band director or by contacting Synergy at info@synergyjazz.org. Applications are due by April 1.
